La suite directe du précédent jeu, comme pour Trails in the sky il garde le même gameplay et en rajoute quelques éléments, comme les slots de quartz à upgrader, ou un overdrive avec la personne linkée. Sinon, rien ne change côté visuel, et on a le plaisir de ne plus avoir cette simulation de vie scolaire.
Version PC 74 h de jeuRien ne change sur le terrain, donc même défauts aussi, comme les objectifs de quête sur la map qui spoil toute énigme en disant où il faut aller.
Par contre l'histoire apporte beaucoup de nouvelles choses, nouvelles boucles, une autre routine, et des situation prenantes (bien qu'aussi verbeuses, omg le visual novel quoi...). D'un autre côté, niveau scénar on a encore un anime très médiocre (comme dans le 1), aucune prise de risque dramatique (personne ne meurt, tout le monde est gentil en vrai...), et un condensé de tous les clichés des séries animées japonaises.
Comme pour dans Trails in the sky (encore), c'est ici la seconde moitié d'un même jeu qui a dû être développé dans la foulée. On parcourt les mêmes maps (plusieurs fois) plus quelques unes qui nous étaient défendues durant le premier jeu, et on voit les mêmes têtes.
Une partie du scénar se déroule en même temps que des évènements de Trails to Azure (qui, avec Trails of Zero, se passe à Crossbell - on comprend l'intérêt du coup), jeu qui hélas n'a pas encore été traduit (depuis plus de 10 ans) mais qui devrait arriver en 2023.
Fini en 74h, un peu plus court que le précédent (qui avait pourtant une avance rapide générale).
