TRS19 est le successeur de Trainz A New Era. Il est construit sur le même moteur et le même code de jeu, mais avec d'importantes fonctionnalités graphiques et de jeu supplémentaires.
Il introduit de nouvelles fonctionnalités graphiques telles que le « PBR » (rendu basé sur la physique) et les heightmaps (textures 2D qui ressemblent à de la 3D).
TRS19 prend en charge la rétrocompatibilité avec la majorité du contenu des anciennes versions de Trainz.
TRS19 est compatible avec les itinéraires Trainz : A New Era. Si vous possédez TANE, les routes intégrées de TANE apparaîtront en téléchargement dans TRS19.
