Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by ArtPlay and DICO, and published by 505 Games. The game is led by former Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi, and is considered a spiritual successor to the series. Bloodstained is expected to be released in 2018 for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The Vita version is being developed by Armature Studio. A retro-style companion game, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, was developed by Inti Creates and released in May 2018.

Igarashi conceived the game after his departure from Konami, prompted by numerous fan requests for him to make another Metroidvania-type game, and used Kickstarter to demonstrate to potential funding agencies of the demand for the title during May and June 2015. The Kickstarter campaign, originally set for US$500,000, successfully raised more than $5.5 million from backers, making it the most funded video game crowdfunding campaign on the platform until it was surpassed by Shenmue III shortly after.
