Mon Rak Luk Thung

Khlao, a young farmer, falls in love with Thongkwao, the daughter of Thongkon and Thapthim, the wealthiest family in the village. Khlao tells her that once he sells his rice, he will ask for her hand in marriage, but Thongkon and Thapthim disapprove of Khlao because he is poor.
Khlao's land is confiscated because he is in debt to Jom, another wealthy man in the village. Meanwhile, Thongkwao is sent by her parents to live with her aunt Thongkham in Bangkok, accompanied by her close friend Buppha.
